£6,000! Our second stretch goals takes a tumble! 🙂
Did I really believe this was possible a month ago when we started? To be frank, at the start I thought achieving the original goal was a very very long shot indeed. Now, we’re way past that, and there are a stream of other projects alongside too. As I write, only 2 writer’s pack pledges remain.
We’ve got 10 days left to go. What are we going to do with it?
Stretch goals still lie ahead – doing that paperback print run. With the success we’ve had, I want to think about putting something back ‘out there’.
When I wrote the Oolite Saga, I wasn’t able to charge any money for very obvious copyright reasons. What I did do is put a ‘donate’ button on my website, inviting people to donate money to charity if they thought the books were worthy enough. I chose a local dyslexia charity, a cause close to my heart, as my eldest son struggles with reading (though he adores stories and films). The Oolite Saga raised several hundred pounds each year which went directly to that charity.
My own family is currently being affected by cancer, and I imagine many of yours have or are being affected too. I’m planning to dedicate Elite:Reclamation to my Dad, who got me into space and science in the first place. He’s backed me; I hope he gets a chance to read the story.
- £6,000 – Stretch goal 2 achieved – DONE!
- £7,500 – Stretch goal 3 achieved
- £8,500 – Stretch goal 4 achieved
Thanks to all who have pledged so far, your generousity has been astounding. I’ll be off-line over the Christmas break (until the 27th) so may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Write on, Commanders!
